Powerful storm hits northern Italy, killing woman west of Milan

A powerful storm hit northern Italy. A 63-year-old woman died near Milan after a tree fell on her during a walk, Reuters informs.
The woman died in Robecchetto con Induno, west of Milan. She was returning from a walk with two others. Both sustained injuries and were hospitalized.
Firefighters have already responded to approximately 50 incidents. Another 37 cases are still pending.
Most incidents involved:
- fallen trees;
- flooded basements and taverns;
- billboards torn down by strong winds;
According to the Italian news agency Ansa, heavy rains also hit the Veneto region in the east. The storm affected areas around Belluno and Vicenza. Some parts of Tuscany also reported fallen trees.
While rain and storms battered the north, temperatures in much of southern and central Italy, including Rome, remained around 86°F (30°C).
A significant part of Europe is experiencing a heatwave early in summer. Officials link it to at least eight deaths across the continent.

On the morning of July 4, a sudden flood struck central Texas. Kerr County was hit hardest. Water levels rose 26-30 feet (8-9 meters) in just 45 minutes.
At the private Mystic summer camp, dozens of the 700 people present died or went missing. Among the dead was Camp Director Dick Eastland, who saved others until the end. Three children under 10 also died.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed condolences to the US over the deadly Texas flood.
Today, US President Donald Trump declared a state of disaster in Kerr County, Texas. The flood has already killed 59 people there. The disaster has claimed at least 69 lives in Texas overall.
