During the night of October 1, a series of powerful explosions rocked Kharkiv. The military reported detecting high-speed aerial targets heading toward the city, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Starting from 1:57 AM Kyiv time, reports indicated a possible ballistic missile threat launched from Bryansk. The Air Force also detected the movement of guided aerial bombs (KABs) toward the city.

"Russia struck Kharkiv with a KAB, an explosion was heard in the city," Mayor Ihor Terekhov confirmed at 1:59 AM Kyiv time.

Shortly after, another series of explosions followed. Terekhov announced that Kharkiv was under a combined attack.

"Kharkiv is under a combined attack. Preliminary reports indicate KAB strikes on the Kyivskyi district. In addition, ballistic missile launches were recorded targeting Kharkiv and nearby suburbs," the statement read.

According to the mayor, at 2:25 AM Kyiv time, preliminary information suggests that two people were injured in the Kyivskyi district following the KAB strike.

Meanwhile, the Air Force again detected the movement of aerial bombs toward Kharkiv, followed by yet another wave of explosions.

Several local channels also reported power outages in some districts after the initial impacts.

As of 2:14 AM Kyiv time, the air raid alert map showed active warnings in Kharkiv, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Donetsk regions.

Russian forces continue to regularly strike Kharkiv, using drones, missiles, and guided aerial bombs.

For example, on the evening of September 26, the city was hit by a drone strike targeting a shopping center, injuring four people.
