A powerful earthquake struck the central part of the Philippines, killing dozens of people and injuring more than 150 others, according to AP.

An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 occurred during the night of September 31. The epicenter was located 19 kilometers northeast of the city of Bogo, at a depth of about 5 kilometers.

Initially, reports indicated 31 deaths, but according to updated information, the death toll has increased to at least 69. More than 150 people have been injured.

The San Remigio area was the most affected, where dozens of people died under the rubble of a destroyed sports and recreation complex. As a result of the tremors, residential and public buildings were damaged, and power outages were reported in the region.

Rescue services continue search and rescue operations, and the number of victims may rise.

Earthquakes in Ukraine

On Sunday, September 28, an earthquake was recorded in the Lviv region. Its magnitude was 3.0 on the Richter scale. The tremors were registered in the area of the city of Stryi, Stryi district, at 21:46. The epicenter lay at a depth of 4 kilometers.

On July 27, tremors were recorded near Poltava. Their magnitude was 2.9 on the Richter scale, which is classified as "barely perceptible."

According to recent data, although the total number of earthquakes in Ukraine remains relatively small, the increase in their frequency warrants attention. It may indicate changes in the region's geological activity.
