Energy 'truce'
This year, with the mediation of the US, Ukraine and Russia agreed to halt attacks on energy and port infrastructure. The so-called "truce" came into effect on March 25. However, shortly after, Russia violated all agreements by launching strikes on Ukrainian energy system facilities.
For example, recently, Russian forces again damaged an energy facility of DTEK, with a strike carried out in the Dnipropetrovsk region on the 17th.
Despite Russia not ceasing attacks on energy infrastructure, the occupiers also fabricated reports of strikes on their own facilities.
According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent fabricated reports to the US about alleged strikes on their energy infrastructure.
Additionally, on April 18, Vladimir Putin's spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced the "end of the moratorium on strikes on energy infrastructure." However, Ukraine's communication advisor, Dmitry Lytvyn, stated that Kyiv does not consider these statements as significant signals.
