Power outage in Sumy caused by Russian attack: Transportation disruptions reported in city

On the evening of July 18, Russian forces attacked Sumy, causing power supply issues in the city. There are disruptions in public transportation, and municipal infrastructure has switched to generators, according to a post by the Sumy City Council.
"Specialists from Sumyoblenergo JSC (regional electricity distribution company - ed.) are working in emergency mode to restore electricity distribution as quickly as possible," the statement said.
It is noted that one of the medical facilities in Sumy has switched to generator power. Water utility facilities have already resumed normal operation after a brief interruption.
There are also disruptions in public transportation: all trolleybuses without autonomous power have been temporarily suspended. Trolleybuses equipped with autonomous power will run on shortened routes until electricity is restored.
"For security reasons, the details of the incident and its consequences are not being disclosed, so as not to give the enemy an opportunity to adjust further strikes," the city council added.
On July 18, the Russian forces attacked Sumy with shrapnel-equipped drones. The enemy once again aimed to kill as many civilians as possible, using their usual terrorist tactics.
Sumy also came under attack on July 14, when the Russian army targeted an educational institution. Six people were injured as a result, and the building was damaged. In total, Russian forces attacked Sumy three times with drones that day, including a strike on a medical facility.
