Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha expresses solidarity with Poland after an act of sabotage was discovered on the railway, which is being investigated by Polish authorities.
"Our solidarity with friendly Poland following an act of sabotage on Polish railways. We hope investigation will provide answers and we also stand ready to assist if called upon," Sybiha says.
According to him, the incident may be part of Russia's broader hybrid activities aimed at destabilizing the region and testing the reaction of its allies.
"Could have been another hybrid attack by Russia — to test responses. If true, they need to be strong," he adds.
Explosion on railway in Poland
In Poland, a damaged section of railway track was discovered on an important route leading to the border with Ukraine and further into Ukraine. The train driver reported damage to the infrastructure near the PKP Mika station in the Żychlin area, Garwolin County, Mazovia Province.
Later, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk confirmed that the tracks on the Warsaw-Lublin route, which are used to transport aid to Ukraine, were destroyed by an explosion.
Ukrzaliznytsia clarifies that, according to information from the Polish side, there had been an attempt at sabotage on the Warsaw-Lublin section. An explosive device had been detonated, damaging part of the track.
Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said that the Polish army would check the safety of the remaining 120 kilometers of tracks leading to the Ukrainian border to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
