Polish President Andrzej Duda expects a ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia with US support. He emphasized Washington's firm position on ending the war, according to PAP.

Duda spoke with US Special Envoy for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, discussing Russia’s war on Ukraine.

Duda explained Poland's perspective on the situation and addressed Russian provocations. The issue of Russia's provocations in Polish airspace was also raised.

Duda told Kellogg about Poland's opinion on Russia's behavior and statements by Russian officials.

According to the Polish President, he has a “full picture of the situation” when it comes to the actions the United States is taking to end the war. Washington “has entered the game very decisively.”

"I know President Trump; he’s a very decisive person, and when he acts, it’s firm and usually effective. I expect at least a ceasefire and hope for an end to Russia's aggression against Ukraine," Duda said.

Rumors of a ceasefire

Earlier, the Financial Times, citing unnamed Western and US officials, reported that Russian leader Vladimir Putin and US President Donald Trump want to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter (April 20) or May 9.

According to Fox News, the US and Russia have reportedly proposed a three-stage peace plan, which includes a ceasefire.

It is worth noting that just a month ago, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would agree to a ceasefire only under two conditions.
