Polish peacekeepers won't appear in Ukraine for now - Defense Minister
So far, Poland has ruled out the possibility of sending and deploying its military to Ukraine. However, this decision may be revised in the future, states Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
“We rule out the possibility of Polish troops being on the territory of Ukraine,” he said.
The minister believes that such decisions should not be made by a group of countries and that NATO should play a key role in this decision.
“We are considering further steps when this stage comes. At this stage, we do not plan to send troops to Ukraine until the peace process is completed. And this is impossible without Ukraine at the negotiating table, and this is very important,” stated Kosiniak-Kamysz.
Peacekeepers in Ukraine
In recent weeks, European leaders have been discussing the deployment of peacekeepers to Ukraine. Many statements on this issue have been made by German, French, and Polish politicians.
In particular, French President Emmanuel Macron took the initial initiative to discuss sending peacekeepers, but the dialogue is still in its early stages.
Recently, Sejm Speaker Shimon Holovnya stated that Poland could send peacekeepers to Ukraine. However, this can only happen under the auspices of NATO.
