Polish general dismissed from NATO headquarters: Reason revealed
Polish General Artur Jakubczyk is being dismissed from the NATO headquarters. The reason is a violation during the competition for the position of head of the intelligence policy department, reports the Polish newspaper Rzeczpospolita.
As noted, General Jakubczyk's term at the NATO headquarters will be shortened at the request of the Alliance’s members.
The publication learned that a violation occurred during the competition for the position of head of the intelligence policy department within NATO's Joint Intelligence and Security Division. Jakubczyk was part of the selection committee and favored one of the Polish candidates.
Additionally, his behavior was described as homophobic and racist.
The Polish Ministry of Defense has stated that it will not comment on the situation. However, a source within the ministry said that Poland's reputation in NATO is suffering, and it is uncertain whether Warsaw will be able to maintain its positions.
Artur Jakubczyk is one of eight Polish generals in NATO structures. He was the deputy commander of the 18th Mechanized Division, which was commanded by General Jarosław Gromadziński from 2018 to 2022. Gromadziński later became the commander of Eurocorps in Strasbourg but was dismissed before his term ended. A military counterintelligence review stated that the general could not ensure confidentiality.
It is worth noting that Poland has announced a large-scale operation at the border with Belarus, to be led by the 18th Mechanized Division.
Earlier, Warsaw also announced that it would limit Minsk's transit revenues by introducing border checks.
