Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski surprised with a statement about the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine.

"Soldiers from NATO countries are already in Ukraine. I would like to thank the countries that are taking this risk. They know who they are," Sikorski said, commenting on French President Emmanuel Macron's statement about the possibility of sending Western troops to Ukraine.

At the same time, the Polish minister refused to specify which countries he was referring to.

"Unlike other European politicians, I will not say this," he emphasized.

Macron's idea of troops in Ukraine

At the end of February, French President Emmanuel Macron did not rule out sending Western troops to help Ukraine. The main problem, he said, is that there is currently no consensus in NATO on this issue. A few days ago, the French president explained the conditions under which he is ready to send French troops to Ukraine.

A number of NATO countries have already publicly opposed this idea, although some, such as the Baltic states, have supported it. In addition, Politico believes that France is assembling a coalition of countries that are ready to send their troops to Ukraine.

Poland also initially opposed the presence of NATO troops in Ukraine, but later softened its position. In particular, Minister Sikorski said that "a coalition of UN member states to stop aggression is not unthinkable," citing the war between the two Koreas as an example.
