Today, on October 8, Polish farmers may block the movement of cargo vehicles at one of the border checkpoints. The protests are expected to continue until the end of this year, according to Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service (SBGS).

According to the SBGS, the checkpoint in question is Medyka-Shehyni. As mentioned earlier, the blockade, according to Polish authorities, will last until December 31, 2024.

"Currently, vehicle processing is being carried out as usual," the SBGS added.

Protests by Polish farmers and transporters

On November 6, 2023, Polish transporters began striking at the Ukrainian border. The action was initially planned to continue until early January 2024. As a result of the protests, several routes were blocked, allowing no more than one truck to pass in or out per hour. Later, the Medyka-Shehyni checkpoint was also blocked.

At the beginning of this year, the situation was temporarily stabilized, but the protests and blockades resumed in February.

It wasn’t until late April that Polish farmers unblocked all checkpoints on the border with Ukraine.
