Police shoot down Russian drone during emergency evacuation from Ukraine's Pokrovsk: Video

Police officers from the Bilyi yanhol (White angel) unit shot down a Russian drone using a special rifle during an emergency evacuation of civilians from Pokrovsk in the Donetsk region, according to the Telegram channel of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, despite the deadly danger, police officers, together with volunteers, made several trips into Pokrovsk.
It is noted that evacuation requests continue to come in constantly. Up to eight people can be evacuated in a single trip. Residents hurriedly grab only the essentials and their pets, trying to leave the shelling zone as quickly as possible.
"During the evacuation, an enemy drone attempted to attack the crew. Police officers managed to shoot it down in time using a special rifle," the ministry reported.
Situation in Pokrovsk
The Pokrovsk direction in eastern Ukraine remains one of the hottest spots on the front line. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports daily on intense fighting in the area.
According to Serhii Dobriak, head of the city’s military administration, 1,413 civilians still remain in Pokrovsk, with a total of 2,809 civilians in the broader community.
He said that for nearly a month, the Russian army has been intensively attacking the Pokrovsk community using guided aerial bombs, artillery, and FPV drones. He noted that there is currently no district in the city that hasn’t been damaged or destroyed.
Dobriak also added that evacuations are still underway, but they are becoming increasingly dangerous by the day. In most districts, evacuation vehicles can no longer get through, so people are leaving on foot.
Due to the worsening security situation, delivering food to Pokrovsk has become nearly impossible, and stores are expected to close in the coming days.
