Poland will not facilitate return of Ukrainian refugees home - Polish Ambassador
The Republic of Poland will remain neutral regarding the return of Ukrainian refugees to Ukraine. The country's authorities do not plan to encourage their return or hinder them. This was stated by the Ambassador of the Republic of Poland to Ukraine, Jaroslaw Guzy, in an interview with DW.
Guzy states that Poland will remain absolutely neutral on this issue, it will neither encourage nor hinder. This is a matter for Ukrainian citizens residing in Poland to decide whether they will choose to return or not.
The diplomat noted that Poland is interested in Ukrainians, who are very important in terms of the Polish labor market.
Jaroslaw Guzy mentioned the labor shortage and situations where an employer, who employs Ukrainians, persuades them to stay because it will be difficult for them to find a replacement. He said, "these are not the things that the Polish authorities will somehow react to."
Ukrainian refugees in Poland
Ukrainian citizens residing in Poland as refugees are concerned about the possible termination of assistance in this country. The support program has been extended without changes until June 30, 2024.
However, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has asked voivodes to provide proposals for amendments to the relevant special law, which is intended to abolish benefits for Ukrainians in Poland. The rules of stay may change from June 30, 2024.
Meanwhile, about half of the surveyed Ukrainian women in a social survey plan to stay in the country permanently or for some time.
