Poland steps up security at border crossings with Ukraine amid Russian attacks

Poland is strengthening security at border crossing points with Ukraine. A special engineering unit will be involved in the effort, according to statements by Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces.
Poland to strengthen security at border crossings
Security at checkpoints and infrastructure near Poland's border with Ukraine will be strengthened by the 18th Pontoon Bridge Regiment.
"The past few days have shown that Russia's actions threaten the security of all of Europe. In line with a decision by our government, we are strengthening, among other things, the infrastructure used by the Border Guard," Kosiniak-Kamysz said.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces said that observation posts will be built near Poland's border with Ukraine in:
- Dorohusk,
- Medyka,
- Korczowa.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Russian attacks on western Ukraine are an attempt to block the supply of military aid. This was stated by Polish Deputy Defense Minister Cezary Tomczyk.
It was also reported that on September 13, a Russian jet-powered drone attacked a locomotive of a civilian train at the Yahodyn railway station in the Volyn region. The station is located near the border with Poland.
In addition, Poland reacted strongly to the incident, with Prime Minister Donald Tusk calling an emergency meeting and saying that the threat from Russia to his country had increased.
