Russian attacks on Ukraine on October 19 prompted Poland to deploy military aircraft for the second time that day. Authorities issued warnings to residents of the border region, according to Poland's Government Security Center (RCB).
The security center warned of a Russian air attack on Ukraine and reported that the Polish Air Force was taking action.
"Attention! Russian air attack on Ukrainian territory. The situation is being monitored. In the airspace of the Republic of Poland, Polish aviation is operating. Await further announcements," the RCB statement said.
The warning was sent to residents of Lublin Voivodeship, which borders Ukraine.
Poland already scrambled military aircraft in the morning
This is the second time on October 19 that Poland has scrambled military aircraft in response to Russian attacks on Ukraine. The previous deployment took place at around 10:00 a.m.
So far, there have been no reports of a threat to Poland. The Government Security Center urged residents to follow further official updates.
On October 19, Russia launched a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Damage and power outages were reported in at least 11 regions. Medical supply warehouses, railway stations, commercial premises, and residential buildings were also targeted.
