Polish and allied aviation were scrambled on the night of September 28 in response to a massive Russian missile strike on Ukraine, according to the Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces on X.

The statement notes that due to the activity of Russian long-range aviation striking Ukrainian territory, Polish and allied aircraft began patrolling Polish airspace.

“Alert fighter jets were scrambled, and ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were placed on the highest state of combat readiness,” the statement reads.

It is noted that these measures are preventive in nature and aimed at ensuring the safety of airspace and protecting civilians, especially in areas adjacent to high-risk zones.

The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces continues to monitor the situation, and subordinate forces and assets remain ready for immediate response.
