Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Poland, General Rajmund Andrzejczak, and the commander of the operational forces, General Tomasz Piotrowski, have submitted their resignations, according to Polsat.

Colonel Joanna Klejszmit, the spokesperson for the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Poland, confirmed the requests for resignation from the military leaders but stated that no further statements on the matter are planned, as the generals have simply exercised their right to step down from their positions.

According to a report, tension within the Polish army has been ongoing for several months. The conflict escalated following an incident involving a Russian X-55 missile that fell near Bydgoszcz in 2022.

At that time, the Minister of National Defense, Mariusz Błaszczak, placed responsibility for the situation on Operational Commander Piotrowski and accused him of negligence. He also suggested removing the military officer from his position.

In response, Piotrowski called for unity and strength, which was supported by Andrzejczak.

Incident involving missile in Poland

On April 27 of this year, fragments of a Russian X-55 missile had been found approximately 15 kilometers from Bydgoszcz. They had fallen in Poland back in December 2022, but were not discovered immediately.

It was also reported that the Armed Forces of Poland were informed about the missile that could have been heading towards Poland on December 16 of the previous year, but this information was not relayed to the Ministry of Defense.

Furthermore, there were rumors in the media about the resignation of a general, the general staff, or Minister of National Defense Mariusz Błaszczak in connection with the situation, but no actions were taken at that time.

Besides, in November 2022, missiles fell in the border town of Pszczółki, Poland, resulting in the loss of two lives.
