Poland’s President-elect Karol Nawrocki wants to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The date of the meeting remains unclear, according to Polsat News.

"Without a doubt, I will meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as part of the appropriate series of meetings. I will visit all our neighbors as President," Nawrocki said.

The winner of Poland's presidential election clarified that he "will have to speak" with Zelenskyy. According to him, Ukraine and Poland share many common goals and interests.

However, Nawrocki added that there are still unresolved issues between the two countries, referring to the situation with Polish farmers and the exhumation of victims of the Volhynia tragedy.

Nawrocki's ambiguous position

During his presidential campaign, Karol Nawrocki promised not to allow Ukraine to join NATO. He made this statement to garner the support of one of the candidates who did not advance to the second round of the election.

However, after the election, Nawrocki stopped categorically rejecting Ukraine's NATO membership. Instead, he simply stated the fact that Ukraine cannot become part of the Alliance while it is at war with Russia. Therefore, in his view, it makes no sense to discuss this issue at the moment.

He also added that he opposes Ukraine joining the European Union without meeting the necessary membership conditions.
