Poland proposes trilateral US-Ukraine deal to produce Patriot missiles

Poland wants to produce missiles for the Patriot air defense system in cooperation with the United States and Ukraine, Poland's Deputy Defense Minister Magdalena Sobkowiak-Czarnecka stated.
On July 23, the Polish official met with her counterparts from the US Department of Defense and State Department.
"We discussed what President Trump said at the NATO summit in Ankara, namely his statement about considering the possibility of establishing a Patriot production plant in Ukraine," Sobkowiak-Czarnecka said.
She emphasized that the US president wants "this production to be connected with Ukraine."
The Polish official also said Warsaw wants to join the process to ease Washington's concerns, particularly regarding security.
"Today, we proposed that this be a trilateral cooperation between the United States, Ukraine, and Poland. The idea is to secure this production and ensure that it takes place in a safe location," Sobkowiak-Czarnecka explained.
According to her, negotiations on the proposal between Warsaw, Kyiv, and Washington will now continue.
The official believes the White House will make a positive decision, as it recognizes Poland's advantageous geographic and geopolitical position.
Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that Zelenskyy and Raytheon discussed joint production of Patriot missiles.
It was also reported that companies producing Patriot interceptors are in the early stages of considering the construction of a facility in Ukraine.
It was also revealed that Ukrainian specialists could begin producing missiles for key air defense systems as early as 2026.
