On Saturday, September 20, Polish authorities discovered what is likely the last Russian drone that entered the country during the night of September 9–10, RFM24 reports.

The drone was found around 2:00 PM local time. It was lying in a field a few dozen meters from nearby houses. A property owner in the town of Korsze, Kętrzyn County, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship, noticed it.

Police officers secured the area and the object, and other services, including the Military Police and the Military Prosecutor at the District Prosecutor's Office in Olsztyn, were notified. Procedural actions are ongoing under their supervision.

Daniel Brodowski, a spokesman for the District Prosecutor's Office in Olsztyn, told PAP that the drone is made of foam. He said its condition indicates it had been lying in the field for several days and that it is currently considered the last of the drones that entered Polish territory during the night of September 9–10.

Prosecutors from the 8th Military Division of the District Prosecutor's Office in Olsztyn are working at the site and will transfer the collected materials to the District Prosecutor's Office in Lublin, which is handling the investigation.

Russian drones in Poland

During the night of September 9–10, Russia carried out another mass drone attack on Ukraine. Nineteen drones crossed into Polish airspace during the attack.

In response, Poland launched its own and allied aviation, marking the first time in modern Polish history that the country's Air Force used weapons in its airspace to destroy foreign objects.

Polish air defense forces shot down four drones. A private house in Lublin Voivodeship was also damaged. Initial reports suggested the damage was caused by the attack or a falling drone, but Polish media say the house may have been hit by a missile fired from an F-16 targeting a drone.

Following the incident, NATO activated Article 4 of the Alliance for the first time. A few days later, Poland launched Operation Eastern Sentry.
