On the morning of December 6, Poland not only scrambled its air force in response to the Russian attack on Ukraine, but also sounded air raid sirens in one of its settlements. The incident occurred in the city of Lubartów in the Lublin Voivodeship, reports RMF24.
Lubartów Mayor Krzysztof Paśnik said that the alarm was sounded after a warning was received about a potential air threat approaching the town. The message was sent by the Regional Crisis Center due to massive rocket attacks on Ukraine, including the western regions.
After checking, it was determined that there was no air threat to the city, so the alarm was canceled. It lasted almost an hour and a half.
The governor of the Lublin Voivodeship said that he did not decide to activate the sirens. Also, no such order was given by the services in Lublin. The Regional Crisis Center said that they received a message from another region.
Additional checks of the situation are being carried out. They are now investigating whether the activation of the sirens could have been the result of a disinformation operation by a third party.
