Plane makes emergency landing in Norway
A passenger plane en route from Oslo to Amsterdam made an emergency landing at Torp Airport in Norway. There were more than 180 people on board, reports VG.
"A passenger plane traveling from Oslo to Amsterdam made an emergency landing at Torp Airport following a hydraulic failure," the police statement said.
During the approach for landing, the plane veered off the runway. According to the aircraft's radio transmission, the pilots lost control. Fortunately, none of the 182 people on board (176 passengers and 6 crew members) were injured.
"After landing, we lost control, it (the plane) turned right, and we couldn't stop it," one of the pilots said over the intercom.
The control tower also reported observing smoke coming from the plane's left engine, prompting the pilots to request that the fire brigade be on standby for landing.
"Smoke has been seen from their left engine, so just stay ready," the tower communication stated.
