On Sakhalin, an An-3 military aircraft made an emergency landing in a field and immediately caught fire. There were seven people on board, according to Russian media.
The crash was caused by an engine fire that broke out mid-flight. As a result, the pilot was forced to make an emergency landing directly in a field.
There were five skydivers and two crew members on board the plane. After landing, the plane was completely engulfed in flames.
Russian media described the incident simply as a hard landing. However, footage from the crash site paints a very different picture.
Photos and videos show that the plane is not merely damaged, but completely destroyed and broken into several large pieces.
Russian aircraft crashes this summer
In mid-June, a Tu-22M3 supersonic bomber crashed in the Irkutsk region.
The Russian Ministry of Defense stated at the time that the crash occurred during a routine training flight as the aircraft was preparing to land, and that the crew managed to eject.
Meanwhile, a month later, in late July, a fifth-generation Su-57 fighter jet crashed during a training flight near Moscow.
The pilot also managed to eject, and no one was injured.
