A private plane carrying Libyan Chief of Staff Mohammed ‍Ali Ahmed al-Haddad lost contact with air traffic controllers in Türkiye, this was announced by Turkish Turkish interior minister Ali Yerlikaya, according to ntv.

"Tonight at 08:10 PM, a Falcon 50 business jet with the registration number 9H-DFJ departed from Ankara Esenboğa Airport heading to Tripoli. As of 08:52 PM, contact with the aircraft was lost," Erlikaya said, confirming that the Libyan Chief of Staff was on board.

The plane reportedly sent a message about an emergency landing near the Haymana area, but no further contact could be established afterward.

In total, there were five passengers on board, including the Libyan Chief of Staff.

Later, Erlikaya reported that the wreckage of the private plane was found 2 kilometers south of the village of Kesikkavak.

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah confirmed the death of the Libyan Chief of Staff in the plane crash.

Visit to Türkiye

Libyan Army General Mohammed Ali Ahmed al-Haddad was in Ankara today on a visit as an official guest of the Chief of the Turkish General Staff, Army General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu.
