Photos published online show Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant shrouded in smoke. The smoke occurred in the area of the plant's cargo port, according to Ukraine's Ministry of Energy.

"In the area of the cargo port of the temporarily occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, smoke is being observed. The exact location of the fire and its possible consequences are currently being determined," the ministry noted.

They specified that such an incident draws attention to the threats posed by the Russian occupation of the largest nuclear power plant in Europe.

"The constant placement by Russian military forces of their equipment and personnel on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP, as well as continuous psychological pressure on the Ukrainian staff of the plant, constitutes a gross violation of international law and the fundamental principles of nuclear safety," the Ministry of Energy added.

The ministry emphasized that any provocations or military actions in the area of the Zaporizhzhia NPP could lead to unpredictable and catastrophic consequences for the entire continent.
