In the morning, you may feel hungover if you had too much alcohol the day before. In addition to drinking a large amount of water, it is crucial to eat the right foods on this day to feel human again, according to Metro.

Ideal anti-hangover breakfast

Dietitian Cara Shaw explained what you need to eat to recover from alcohol faster.

According to the expert, your breakfast should contain two key elements: first, you need to return your blood sugar level to normal, and second, you need to support your liver, which does the main work of breaking down alcohol.

"‘If you’ve been boozing all day long, particularly on lots of beer or high sugar cocktails or sugary mixers, it’s likely that your blood sugar will be going haywire into the early hours," Kara said.

To support blood sugar level, have breakfast within 90 minutes of waking up, but be sure to choose an option high in protein.

When it comes to the liver, alcohol puts a significant load on it, so detoxification will require additional support. You can provide what this organ needs with an adequate amount of protein, as well as B vitamins and antioxidants.

Ideal hangover breakfast is:

  • 3 eggs, cooked any way
  • ½ cup of sautéed mushrooms in olive oil
  • ½ avocado
  • A bit of feta cheese
  • A handful of cooked tomatoes
  • A drop of olive oil

Eggs are a good source of protein and a rich source of choline, which promotes liver detoxification. Mushrooms are a good source of B vitamins that support the liver.

Avocado is a healthy fat, rich in nutrients such as potassium and vitamin E, as well as fiber that helps eliminate toxins. Feta provides additional protein and a source of B12, which will give you energy after a heavy night.

Cooked tomatoes have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that help counteract the effects of alcohol.

Olive oil contains polyphenols and numerous anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce oxidative stress, which can result from excessive alcohol consumption.

Don't forget to combine this with a large amount of water to restore your hydration balance.

As we have written before, these two inexpensive drinks will rid you of a hangover.
