The United States of America is not changing its position regarding the deployment of troops to Ukraine. Washington has no such plans, according to a press conference by US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth.

A journalist asked the head of the Pentagon whether the US could send troops to Ukraine to monitor arms deliveries. She reminded that US President Joe Biden had vowed not to send American soldiers to Ukraine.

"We are not sending US troops to Ukraine," Hegseth replied briefly.

Deployment of European peacekeepers to Ukraine

The issue of deploying European peacekeepers to Ukraine gained traction after Donald Trump became President of the United States. He wants Europe to be responsible for maintaining the ceasefire in Ukraine following the signing of a peace agreement.

According to The New York Times, the possibility of European troops being present in Ukraine will be a key topic of discussion at the Munich Security Conference, which will take place from February 14 to 16.

However, NYT, citing experts, reports that European peacekeepers in Ukraine would face threats from Russia without US support. Experts do not rule out the possibility of Russian attacks.

At the same time, Russia opposes this idea, as NATO troops would be physically present on Ukrainian territory.
