According to the head of state, the German batch of missiles arrived in Ukraine yesterday, March 10. In total, following the latest meeting of the allies, the transfer of about 35 missiles of this type was agreed upon.
Zelenskyy emphasized that the delivery is the result of joint efforts by several partner countries.
"This is one of the air defense packages that we occasionally arrange with our partners. We would have liked more, but it turned out as it did. The German portion of these missiles arrived yesterday — thank you for that," the president said.
Significance for defense
The president emphasized that although Ukraine needs a larger quantity of ammunition, every such delivery is critically important for protecting the sky.
"Indeed, at the last Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting, there was an agreement from our partners that we would receive roughly the number of missiles you are talking about… It wasn’t from just one country, to be honest, but from several countries," he added.
Partner assistance and the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting
Following the latest meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group, our country received one of the largest packages of military aid. The allies’ priority remains strengthening Ukraine’s air defense to protect against ballistic threats.
At the same time, Kyiv is actively working on reforming the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. As Ukraine’s ambassador to the US, Oksana Markarova, noted, the goal is to transform the format into a more systematic mechanism that will ensure stable arms deliveries in the long term.
