Pashinyan and his ruling party lead Armenia vote but could be shut out of power

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party is projected to receive 32.7% of the vote in the parliamentary election in Armenia. Together, the four opposition parties are estimated to have won 52.9%, potentially giving them a path to a parliamentary majority, according to Armenian news agency News.am.
Vote distribution
Based on the exit poll published by News.am:
- Civil Contract, led by Nikol Pashinyan — 32.7%
- Strong Armenia, a pro-Russian bloc led by businessman Samvel Karapetyan — 29%
- Armenia Alliance, headed by former President Robert Kocharyan — 13.2%
- Prosperous Armenia — 6.1%
- Wings of Unity — 4.6%.
Balance of power in parliament
Pashinyan's party remains in first place, but its lead over Strong Armenia is only 3.7 percentage points. Together, the four opposition forces are projected to receive 52.9% of the vote, potentially allowing them to claim a majority in the National Assembly.
It should be noted that Armenia's Central Election Commission is expected to announce the official results after all ballots have been counted.
