Partisans scout main Russian Black Sea fleet base: What they discover

Partisans of the Atesh movement have conducted reconnaissance on a strategic Russian Black Sea Fleet facility in Novorossiysk, which, following the withdrawal of ships from temporarily occupied Crimea, has become a key logistics hub playing an important role in supporting the war against Ukraine, the Telegram channel of Atesh reports.
“During the latest operation, we observed various types of military ships - from anti-submarine vessels to patrol and missile boats. They are part of the water area defense brigade and the 41st Missile Ship Brigade,” Atesh stated.
Minesweepers, support and engineering vessels were also spotted in the port, and in the bay, a tanker likely servicing submarines of the 4th Separate Submarine Brigade.
“In addition, we studied the structure of the base’s headquarters, where command, logistics, and control over the naval infantry responsible for counter-sabotage defense are concentrated,” partisans added.
Furthermore, the Novorossiysk base hosts headquarters, officer rotations, maintenance of Varshavyanka-class submarines, and engineering and logistics units ensuring the operational readiness of ship groups.
The movement of equipment, dock activity, and personnel presence confirm that the facility remains a central hub for the Russian Black Sea Fleet’s maritime operations.
Novorossiysk naval base
Novorossiysk is one of Russia’s key ports on the Black Sea, located in Krasnodar Krai.
It is the largest Russian seaport in terms of cargo turnover and one of the largest in Europe. A significant portion of Russia’s exports of oil, grain, metal products, and other raw materials passes through it.
In recent years, Novorossiysk has also gained military and political significance. It serves as a logistics hub for the Russian Black Sea Fleet, as well as for transporting military equipment and weapons, particularly in the context of the war against Ukraine.
On the night of May 3, explosions were reported in Novorossiysk due to a drone attack. Local media described it as a combined strike on port infrastructure, noting that Russian forces destroyed unmanned boats and drones.
