Negotiations for peace in Ukraine must take place only with Ukraine's participation. Other discussions may be unacceptable, states the Chairman of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, Xavier Bettel, in Strasbourg, where the winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has begun.

Bettel stated that the only way to support a peace project for Ukraine is with its participation. He added that if President Trump wanted to have discussions about peace in Ukraine without Ukraine, Bettel believes it would be unacceptable both for European countries and for Ukraine.

According to him, if there is a peace plan, it should not be about Ukraine, but with Ukraine's involvement.

Trump's plan for Ukraine

Before winning the presidential election in the US, Trump stated that his team would develop a plan for Ukraine. However, the details of this plan are still unknown.

Despite this, the media has already revealed possible versions of Trump's plan. It is noted that the plan may include a delay in Ukraine's NATO membership, the introduction of peacekeepers into the so-called buffer zone, territorial concessions, and more.

After his inauguration, Trump called on Putin to sign an "agreement" to end the war soon and threatened Russia with tariffs and sanctions. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, the US president said that he wanted to meet with Putin to put an end to the war in Ukraine.
