Legendary rock musician Ozzy Osbourne has died at the age of 76 — just a few weeks after his final reunion with the band Black Sabbath on their farewell tour, Sky News informs.

What is known about Ozzy Osbourne’s death

The heavy metal star’s family announced his passing. They stated that he passed away "surrounded by love."

It is known that in his final years, he had serious health problems, including Parkinson’s disease and suffering from the consequences of a fall in 2019.

Due to his deteriorating health, he had to cancel numerous tours, but he still performed at the farewell show in Birmingham — his hometown, where his career began.

"You've no idea how I feel - thank you from the bottom of my heart," Osbourne said to the crowd from the stage during his last performance.

Biography of Ozzy Osbourne

The musician’s real name was John Michael Osbourne. He was born in Birmingham, United Kingdom.

He is credited with founding and popularizing the music genre known as heavy metal.

Osbourne came from a poor working-class family and was the fourth of six children.

From childhood, he was passionate about music — his mother played the piano and taught her children. However, his father struggled with alcoholism and displayed aggression.

This left a mark on the boy’s character. He often got into fights and had difficulties with school.

The nickname "Ozzy" stuck with him since school due to his love for the book The Wizard of Oz.

Osbourne became a star with the band Black Sabbath and later achieved enormous success in his solo career.

He was known for hits like Iron Man, Paranoid, War Pigs, Crazy Train, and Changes, both as a band member and as a solo artist. He was married to Sharon Osbourne and had six children.
