On the night of March 7, 2025, Russian forces launched a combined strike using missiles of various types. The Ukrainian air defense units shot down 34 out of 67 missiles fired by the enemy, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports.

"On the night of March 7, 2025, Russian occupiers carried out a combined strike with missiles of various types, including air, ground, and sea-based, targeting critical infrastructure objects. The main focus of the strike was on the gas extraction industry facilities in Ukraine," the Air Force informed.

According to preliminary data, the Air Force units detected and tracked 261 enemy air targets - 67 missiles of various types and 194 attack UAVs and drone imitators of different types.

Among them are:

  • 35 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles;
  • 8 Kalibr cruise missiles;
  • 3 Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles;
  • 4 S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles;
  • 8 Kh-59/69 guided air missiles;
  • 194 Shahed-type attack UAVs and other types of drone imitators.

Anti-aircraft missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups of the Air Force and the Defense Forces of Ukraine repelled the enemy's airstrike. Fighter aircraft were also involved, including F-16 and Mirage-2000 planes. For the first time, French fighter jets, which had arrived in Ukraine just a month ago, were used to repel the Russian attack.

As of 10:00 a.m. Kyiv time, the 134 air targets had been confirmed shot down:

  • 25 Kh-101/Kh-55SM cruise missiles;
  • 8 Kalibr cruise missiles;
  • 1 Kh-59/69 guided air missile;
  • 100 Shahed-type attack UAVs (and other types of drones).

In addition, up to ten enemy missiles, which are not included in the destroyed targets' statistics, failed to reach their objectives. 86 enemy drone imitators were lost locally without causing any negative consequences.

Massive shelling on night of March 7

Last night, the Russian army launched another large-scale attack on Ukraine's energy system. The Russians used strike drones and missiles.

According to the Ukrainian Air Force, the enemy deployed Tu-95MS strategic bombers. In addition, cruise missile launches from maritime areas were recorded.

Ukraine’s Energy Minister German Galushchenko stated that energy and gas infrastructure were targeted.
