Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán stated that his country will not support the European Union's new seven-year budget, calling it "about a war with Russia," according to his comment on X.

In particular, Viktor Orbán said that his country will not support the new seven-year EU budget proposed by the European Commission. According to Orbán, the document does not serve the interests of European citizens at all.

Moreover, the Hungarian Prime Minister believes the document is "about a war with Russia." Orbán expressed outrage that large sums are planned for aid to Ukraine, while agriculture and the development of EU countries, in his view, will receive far less.

"The Brusselian elite has unveiled a seven-year budget proposal built on the logic of war. Billions for Ukraine, crumbs for farmers and development. Their goal: defeat Russia, install liberal allies, and expand their realm of influence. We reject their fantasies, we reject their proposal - Europeans deserve a Union that puts them first," Orbán wrote.

The Hungarian Prime Minister also claims that, in his opinion, one-fifth of the budget is designated for Ukraine.

"This is the budget of a European Union that is at war with Russia. It is fighting Russia on Ukrainian territory. This is the budget of a European Union that wants to defeat Russia on Ukrainian territory in the hope that a military defeat will shake the Russian system of government, paving the way for a change of power," Orbán stated.

In his view, such a scenario would allow the EU to return to a liberal agenda and, in the future, restore business ties with Russia, but under a new government in the Kremlin.

"Hungary has no interest in a war budget. We need a budget that supports peace and development. That is why we do not even consider a proposal a basis for negotiations," the Prime Minister concluded.

Earlier, Viktor Orbán had already threatened to block the adoption of the EU budget, demanding the unfreezing of multi-billion euro funding for Hungary, which was suspended due to Brussels' concerns over the state of the rule of law in the country.

Earlier, the European Commission proposed an EU budget for 2028–2034 totaling 2 trillion euros, focusing on economic competitiveness and defense.

Hungary, which lives off EU subsidies due to the Orbán regime wrecking the Hungarian economy, is demanding that no money be given to Ukraine and is talking about Hungarian taxpayers.
