The Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orban, held a meeting with the newly elected US President Donald Trump, at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida. He was not the only one at the meeting, Orban's official X account reports.

In addition, Elon Musk, whom Trump plans to appoint as co-chair of a new government department, and Michael Waltz, a candidate for the position of National Security Advisor, were also present.

"USA today. The future has begun," Orban said yesterday, December 9, on the social network X.

The Prime Minister of Hungary also added that he spent the day at Mar-a-Lago with Trump, Musk, and Waltz but did not disclose any details of the discussions.

It is important to note that Trump has not yet written anything about the meeting with Orban.

US - Hungary relations

Viktor Orban remains one of the few European leaders who openly supported Trump during his previous presidency. Therefore, the meeting at Mar-a-Lago could indicate a revival of ties between conservative forces in the US and Hungary.

At the same time, the presence of Musk and Waltz at the meeting points to the possibility of discussing government management strategies that may be a priority for Trump's administration after his official inauguration.

An important aspect is that the Hungarian prime minister has expressed direct or indirect support for the Russian regime numerous times. Musk is also known for his ambiguous statements regarding his stance on Russia's actions.

Earlier, we reported that Orban may go on a new "peace mission" regarding Ukraine in December. A large number of phone conversations with Trump may facilitate such a decision.

According to analysts from Reuters, Trump's victory could increase economic risks for Hungary.
