In Hungary, the opposition party Tisza, led by Péter Magyar, holds a 10% lead over the ruling Fidesz party of pro-Russian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, according to polls, Hungarian outlet Telex reports.

A public opinion poll conducted by Zavecz Research from January 19 to 24 showed that Tisza increased its support from 47% in November to 49% in January. At the same time, the pro-Russian Fidesz has the support of 39%, up from 38% in November.

As many as 41% of voters under the age of 39 are ready to vote for Tisza. At the same time, the majority of supporters of Orbán and his pro-Russian course are voters over the age of 59: among them, 38% are ready to cast their votes for a friend of the Russian president.

Orbán's Fidesz is also popular among rural residents and people with only primary education. Tisza, meanwhile, is supported by voters with higher education who live in large cities. In particular, in Budapest, 44% of voters support Tisza, while only 21% support Fidesz.

Orbán, who has been in power for more than 15 years, has for the first time during this period faced a real threat of losing power. The main rival of the current prime minister has become Péter Magyar, the leader of the opposition party Tisza.

In an attempt to win the elections, Orbán has launched a large-scale intimidation campaign, calling on voters to support him in 2026 so that the country does not get dragged into war. The pro-Russian prime minister of Hungary is using manipulation, propaganda, and lies in an attempt to discredit his opponent.
