Europe does not need to fear Russia, as the EU is stronger than it is in terms of defense capability. The real danger is economic stagnation and the loss of competitiveness, said Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, according to The Guardian.

As the publication notes, while Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk was speaking with a group of Polish journalists, one of them decided to shout a question to Orbán, who was nearby giving comments to Hungarian reporters.

"Who poses the main threat to Europe?" the journalist shouted, expecting a comment from the Hungarian politician.

Donald Tusk, standing next to him, told Orbán, "It's a provocation."

However, according to The Guardian, Orbán remained calm and responded as follows:

"The real danger? Economic stagnation and losing competitiveness," said the Hungarian prime minister.

Yet this did not stop the journalist, and Orbán received a follow-up question:

"Not Russia?" the media representative asked the Hungarian politician.

"We are stronger than Russia. Make some comparisons and base your opinion on the facts. We have more than 400 million people, and Russia is 130 something. Look at the European GDP, it's big like that. Russia is small like that. We spend all together, the 27, more on military spending than the Russians. So why are we afraid? We are stronger than they are," Orbán said.

He added that now European countries need to "come together and to defend our interests together."

A few days ago, Orbán stated that Russia had allegedly "already won" the war against Ukraine, although it is weak militarily and economically.

Orbán also said that if Russian drones invade Hungarian airspace, they will be shot down.

Regarding Ukraine, the Hungarian Prime Minister is currently seeking to block Ukraine's accession to the EU, and, according to journalists, has already found allies in this matter.
