Trump-Putin meeting

Earlier today, October 16, US President Donald Trump held a phone call with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The conversation took place ahead of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Washington.

Trump described the call as "productive" and announced a new meeting with Putin.

"At the conclusion of the call, we agreed that there will be a meeting of our high-level advisors next week. The United States' initial meetings will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, together with various other people, to be designated. A meeting location is to be determined," the American leader stated.

Trump added that he will meet with Putin in Budapest to discuss the possibility of ending the "inglorious" war between Russia and Ukraine.

People close to the Russian President confirmed the possibility of holding a summit with the US President in Budapest.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in turn, said that the upcoming Trump-Putin meeting is "great news for the peace-loving people of the world" and that Hungary is ready to host the summit.
