Only U.S. assistance to Ukraine can help avoid major war in Europe - Duda
Continued aid from the United States is Ukraine's only hope for victory in its war against Russia and a means to avoid the outbreak of a major war in Europe, according to Polish President Andrzej Duda on Fox News.
Duda emphasized that the approval by the U.S. Congress of additional funding for Ukraine is the sole hope for the country's victory in the war with Russia, and a way to avoid a larger war and the need for the involvement of U.S. military.
"If Russia wins this war and attacks another country, it would mean the risk of yet another major war in Europe. Therefore, only the U.S. can help prevent the outbreak of such a war by providing support to Ukraine," Duda stressed.
Delay in aid to Ukraine from the U.S.
In recent months, a "political war" has erupted in the U.S. Congress between Democrats and Republicans over a bill providing financial assistance to Ukraine and other allies.
In October 2023, U.S. President Joe Biden submitted a bill to Congress proposing the allocation of $106 billion in aid to Israel and Ukraine, as well as strengthening the defense-industrial complex. $61.3 billion out of this amount was proposed for Ukraine, and $14.3 billion for Israel.
However, on December 6, Republicans blocked the start of debates on the bill in the Senate.
It was also reported that on January 12, the White House said that financial aid to Ukraine had been suspended until Congress approves a new funding package.
