On Kursk anniversary, Russia spreads fake claims of Ukrainian 'invasion'

Russia escalates disinformation campaign on the anniversary of the Kursk operation, labels Ukraine as the aggressor side, Ukraine's Center for Countering Disinformation (CPD) reports.
In particular, the CPD has recorded a spike in Kremlin information operations aimed at discrediting Ukraine's Defense Forces.
Russian state media, propagandists, and even officials are spreading a series of false narratives designed to shift blame for the war onto Ukraine.
The Center's statement says that Russia is trying to present the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as a "treacherous invasion of Russian territory by occupiers."
In addition, false claims are once again being spread about alleged "mass executions of civilians" by Ukrainian soldiers, "drug use," and the "presence of foreign mercenaries."
The propagandists provide no evidence to support these claims.
The Center for Countering Disinformation reminded that back at the beginning of August, it had warned of a likely intensification of such information attacks.
According to the Center, the Kremlin uses such campaigns to legitimize its actions, justify the continuation of aggression, and distort reality.
Fake news from Russia
On August 3, the Center for Countering Disinformation debunked Russian fakes claiming that Ukraine supposedly does not retrieve its citizens from neutral territories, including prisoners of war and former convicts.
Russian propagandists are spreading a fake claim that Ukraine allegedly refuses to retrieve its citizens from neutral territories, including prisoners of war and former inmates. However, this information is false.
