Ukraine is planning a major exchange with Russia in which military captive women will be returned, this was announced by Dmytro Lubinets, the authorized representative of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on human rights, at a press conference titled Returning means saving.

"The United Arab Emirates is helping us. We can say this publicly. We are developing a new toolkit to protect the rights of military captives while they remain in Russian captivity," Lubinets said.

According to him, there are two categories of captives prioritized for return to Ukraine: severely wounded individuals and women. However, Russia is not returning them.

Exchange of prisoners

It should be noted that previously we reported that currently over 400 Ukrainian women are held in Russian captivity. Many of them are illegally detained civilians.

On June 25th, Ukraine conducted another exchange of prisoners with Russia. 90 defenders returned home.

And on the evening of June 28th, it was possible to return the deputy head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Nariman Dzhelal, who was captured in 2021, from Russian captivity.

Nine more Ukrainians were also returned, including two priests. This was achieved with the mediation of the Vatican.
