Oil depot burns in Crimea's Feodosia due to nighttime drone attack
In the early hours of October 7, a fire broke out at a fuel depot in Feodosia, Crimea. Early reports suggest that the facility was attacked by drones, according to Russian media.
Residents (followers of Russian channels) reported hearing several powerful explosions around 4:30 AM, after which the fire started.
The so-called authorities confirmed the incident but claimed it was a fire.
“There’s a fire at the Feodosia oil depot. Emergency services are responding. No casualties or injuries. Deputy Prime Minister Igor Mikhailichenko has been dispatched to Feodosia,” wrote Oleg Kryuchkov, advisor to the head of Crimea, citing Igor Tkachenko, head of the Feodosia administration.
Later, the Telegram channel ASTRA clarified that the oil depot on fire in Feodosia is the Joint-Stock Company Marine Oil Terminal, which drones had previously targeted. In March 2024, four drones struck the depot, damaging the main fuel pipeline and causing a fire. Workers were evacuated then, and it took an hour and a half to extinguish the blaze.
Notably, the Feodosia oil terminal is the largest in Crimea regarding oil product handling capacity. There are only two such terminals on the peninsula, one in Sevastopol.

"In connection with the incident at the oil depot, traffic has been blocked on Geologicheskaya Street and Fedka Street from the intersection with the Kerch highway to the area of the bus station," stated Igor Tkachenko, the so-called head of Feodosia.
Additionally, it was reported by the channel Crimean Wind that airfields Belbek and Saky were attacked during the night in temporarily occupied Crimea.
