The occupiers are establishing strongholds in abandoned high-rise buildings in Crimea. This has become a systematic practice, according to the Telegram channel of the partisan movement ATESH.

"An agent reconnoitered the occupiers' stronghold in Yevpatoria. The stronghold is located in an abandoned high-rise building near the coastline," the report states.

According to the partisans, the area has been secured, with positions set up for surveillance and shooting.

"Military equipment and personnel have been spotted near the post," ATESH adds.

Placement of military facilities in residential areas

Russian forces occupied Crimea in 2014. Since then, a significant number of military facilities have been established by the occupiers on the peninsula.

According to partisans, the placement of military sites within civilian areas in Crimea has become a systemic practice. Furthermore, the occupiers have several goals in mind with these actions — not only the alleged "defense" of the peninsula but also the straightforward seizure of various objects for their own enrichment.

It is worth noting that this tactic is not new. The Russians often carry out shelling from residential areas and use local residents as cover.

For example, it was recently reported that the Russians are spreading a fake narrative claiming that Ukrainian troops are allegedly killing residents of Pokrovsk district. In this way, the occupiers aim to use the civilian population as "human shields."
