During his speech at the Democratic rally, 44th US President Barack Obama said that President Donald Trump's policies are causing the United States to lose its allies, but that's not the whole story.

The former president has made no secret of his outrage over the White House's approach to Russia's war against Ukraine, as well as the administration's handling of relations with Washington's international allies.

Obama voiced his disagreement with the Trump administration's position.

According to the former US president, the White House is dismantling decades-old alliances with its own hands and abandoning those fighting for their independence.

"When we alienated key allies like Canada, the White House is bending the knee to Vladimir Putin of Russia and selling out Ukrainians who are fighting for their freedom and democracy," Obama said angrily.

The former American leader explained that abandoning allies and making concessions to the Kremlin not only runs counter to America's fundamental values but also undermines global security and the United States' standing on the world stage.

It is worth noting that Barack Obama is not the first former US president to criticize Donald Trump's decisions and actions.

Recently, former White House chief Bill Clinton said that Trump had effectively betrayed Ukraine and switched sides to join the enemy, Russia.

"I’m tired of the way we treat our allies like dirt, and just last week President Trump has finally done what he threatened to do when he ran the first time, which is to abandon Ukraine and embrace Vladimir Putin all over again," Clinton said.

Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has also been a vocal critic of the White House.

She believes that Trump's concessions to Moscow could be explained by compromising information Putin may have on him.
