'Nuremberg 2.0' looms: Ukraine in talks for tribunal on Russian crimes, MFA says
Ukraine is actively negotiating to launch a tribunal on Russian aggression. There is already a group of countries supporting this, according to the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Emine Dzhaparova.
"Classic policy - making Ukrainians fight against Ukrainians. What we see is when our citizens are forcibly sent to war against Ukrainians," Dzhaparova notes.
According to the First Deputy Foreign Minister, Ukraine is actively pursuing the protection of its rights in judicial bodies such as the UN International Court and the International Criminal Court.
"We are holding extensive negotiations to launch a tribunal on aggression. Today there is a group of countries already supporting the tribunal, and negotiations are underway on the modality of this tribunal - in what form and where it will take place. So this track of justice restoration is already very active. Yes, it's a bit longer, but I believe there will be 'Nuremberg 2.0'," adds Dzhaparova.
The Nuremberg process is an international legal process conducted against representatives of the Third Reich for the preparation and commission of invasions into other countries and other crimes during World War II.
Arrest warrant for Putin
Since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Russia has been deporting Ukrainian children permanently to annexed Crimea, Belarus, or remote regions of Russia.
This deportation prompted the International Criminal Court in The Hague to issue an arrest warrant for dictator Vladimir Putin and children's rights commissioner in Russia Maria Lvova-Belova for the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children.
