Number of Russian kamikaze drones over Ukraine since September 2022: Ukrainian Air Force Spokesperson counts
Russia has unleashed approximately 3,800 kamikaze drones over Ukraine since September 2022, with Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense successfully neutralizing thousands of enemy UAVs, according to Yurii Ihnat, spokesperson for the Ukrainian Air Force, on the air of the telethon.
"Drones, specifically kamikaze drones, have been launched within our state's territory. If we update the information, approximately 3800 have been deployed since September of last year when the (Russians, - editor) started using the strike UAVs," the spokesperson stated.
He noted that Ukrainian forces managed to shoot down about 3000 kamikaze drones.
Ihnat emphasized that Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense is bolstered by western weaponry, but more advanced means are still needed.
"Approximately 3000 of these drones have been eliminated by Defense Forces. There is something to ponder. We still need more systems that will work against strike UAVs," he added.
