In 2025, the market for book-style foldable smartphones became noticeably more active: Google, HONOR, and vivo introduced their devices. But now a major player has entered the arena — Nubia has officially released its first foldable smartphone, which immediately set a record for battery capacity in this category, according to Android Authority.
A record-breaking battery among foldable smartphones
The Nubia Fold is designed in a book-style format and competes with devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Fold 7. However, the key distinction of the new model is its 6,560 mAh battery — larger than that of all current foldable flagships, including:
- Vivo X Fold 5 – 6,000 mAh;
- HONOR Magic V5 – 6,100 mAh;
- Galaxy Fold 7 – 4,400 mAh.
The smartphone supports 55 W wired charging, and a full charge cycle takes approximately 70 minutes.

Specifications of Nubia Fold
The device comes with:
• 8-inch flexible OLED display (2480 × 2200);
• 6.5-inch external OLED screen (2748 × 1172);
• Flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chip;
• 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage.

However, do not expect a truly flexible camera system: it consists of a 50-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 5-megapixel macro sensor. In addition, each screen features a 20-megapixel front-facing camera.

Durability not record-breaking but respectable
The smartphone comes with IP54 protection, meaning it is resistant to dust and splashes but not submersion in water. Compared to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, the first foldable with full IP68 protection, Nubia’s solution seems more modest—but for the 2025 market, it is still a respectable level.
Additionally, the device features a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Bluetooth 6.0, Wi-Fi 7, and a set of AI-based functions, including translation and a voice assistant.
Price and availability
Currently, Nubia Fold is sold only in Japan. The single version with 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage costs about $1,153.
