At the Peace Summit organized by Ukraine on June 15-16, the United States will be represented by Vice President Kamala Harris, according to the White House.

"Vice President Kamala Harris will travel to Lucerne, Switzerland on June 15 to participate in the Summit on Peace in Ukraine," White House spokesperson Kirsten Allen quoted.

Allen clarified that Harris, on behalf of the US administration, will support Kyiv's efforts to ensure a fair and robust peace grounded in Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and the principles of the UN Charter.

Harris will also reaffirm support for the people of Ukraine defending themselves against Russian aggression.

"National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan will join the Vice President in representing the United States at the Summit," the statement emphasized.

Biden's participation in the Peace Summit

Earlier Bloomberg reported that US President Joe Biden would skip the peace summit on Ukraine. According to the source, the reason for this is a planned fundraising event for the election campaign in California.

A few days later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized that Russian President Vladimir Putin would applaud if Biden did not attend the Peace Summit.

At the same time, the White House has confirmed US participation in the Peace Summit for the past few months but did not disclose who exactly would go to Switzerland.
