In exchange for a new batch of Soviet MiG-29 fighter jets, Ukraine will transfer to Poland a range of know-how in the field of unmanned aerial vehicles, which have already proven their effectiveness on the battlefield, reports RMF24, citing Ukraine's ambassador to Poland, Vasyl Bodnar.
“It will not be a transfer, but an exchange. Poland will receive from Ukraine (in exchange for MiG-29s – ed.), among other things, know-how in the use of drones on the battlefield,” Bodnar said.
According to the ambassador, Ukrainian drones will be delivered to Poland. But he did not specify their number.
“This is modern equipment that has proven its effectiveness and will strengthen Poland's defense,” added the Ukrainian ambassador to Poland.
The diplomat also refused to specify the date when the Polish MiG-29s will be delivered to Ukraine.
"We are online, and not only our friends but also our enemies can hear us. Details that could jeopardize our cooperation are prohibited from being disclosed," Bodnar concluded.
Earlier, the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces confirmed that Warsaw was negotiating with Kyiv on the transfer of MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine. In return, Poland expects to gain access to certain Ukrainian technologies in the field of UAVs and missile weapons.
Polish President Karol Nawrocki learned about the possible transfer of MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine from the media, not from government officials.
Although he is in constant contact with Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, there was “probably a misunderstanding” in this communication, he believes.
