Norwegian prime minister announces new €500 mln aid package for Ukraine
Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre announced at a press conference with participants of the Ukraine-Northern Europe summit that Norway would provide Ukraine with a new aid package worth 500 million euros, of which more than half is planned for military assistance.
According to him, the leaders of the Northern European countries received a clear assessment of the situation on the frontlines during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Støre also specified that his country is aware of the number of women and children dying in Ukraine due to Russian shells and missiles.
"We are presenting another package of about 500 million euros, where we will put about 350 million for another military support package. We will work with our Danish colleagues to strengthen this initiative," added the Norwegian prime minister.
Norwegian assistance
Norway actively provides military assistance to Ukraine. It has become one of the few countries to agree to transfer its F-16 fighter jets.
On October 17, Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov announced after talks with his Norwegian counterpart that Ukrainian pilots would soon receive six F-16s from Norway.
The exact delivery dates for the aircraft, as in the case of the first batch of F-16s for Ukraine, are not being disclosed.
